CONTEST CALLSIGN NORWAY LC # #

Good news for the Activ contesters in Norway.
From NeXT year (2018) Norwegian radio hams can get a 2x1 callsign.
It will be like LC1A..LC1B..LC1C and so on.
If i understand it correctly it will only be the LC serie of qrz's
But this is good News, Rumors have been for this some times
but finally I read about this in the Norwegian ham radio Magazine #6/17.
It will be the national ham radio League (NRRL) that will
assign the Licenses. (valid for 5 years) after this you can
renew for 5 more years.  I think it's a blue copy of the system
they have in Sweden (SSA) A good Christmas present from NRRL and NKOM.
The photo of the Young lady is from the 60's..she must have been on from a HOT spot..

MERRY CHRISTMAS

CQ WAZ AWARD via LOTW

Amateur Radio operators will be able to use LoTW logs to generate lists of confirmed contacts to be submitted for WAZ credit. Standard LoTW credit fees and separate CQ award fees will apply.
Implementation, documentation, and internal testing of the link between LoTW and WAZ is complete. ARRL and CQ are now assembling a team of external “beta testers” to assure that the link is ready for widespread use. A separate announcement will be made when LOTW’s support for CQ WAZ is available to everyone.

AO NANG KRABI

I ended up in Thailand in November.
Missed cqww cw contest, airplane landed in Oslo on sunday morning.
Was Lucky to get one qso With VK9MA on 30 mtr, needed on this band
was #312 on 30 mtr for me (tnx LB8DC) Then i was going to HS-land.
Missed 9U4M and VP2MDL totaly...but life is more than hamradio...
Worked J5T on 17-20 mtr before they was going qrt on sunday.
It was a very good November month for dx-ing and I
was not taking part, running around in Asia, but life is good...
If you are a dx'er you realy want's to work every dx-pedition.
So i missed some band Points, but ok to have something to do
when I get old......older  😛😛😛😛
My DXCC Challenge score is 2503 entity.(confirmed)

3C1L EQUATORIAL GUINEA

Qsl card from their home page.
After 3C0L Annobon Isl.. YL2GM-Yuris and YL3AIW-Kaspars
continued With 3C1L dx-pedition. They made 43613 q's from Equ.Guinea
Great qso # from a 2 man dx-pedition,they closed the operation on 12 November.
Their qso rate have been very high often over 200 q's pr hour.
Very VERY good, not often we se this from radio expeditions.
They worked about 76000 qso's, great team/result.
I worked them on 12-15-17-30-40 cw  and 30 mtr Rtty.
One New bandpoint 40 mtr cw and a New one on Rtty mode # 264
Hope to hear you on the air again from another
semi-rare spot.....
XXXXXX
They have realy set the pace for other dx-pedition.
This 2 guys made more qsos than other dx-pedition With 6 to 8 guys...
Often we se radio expedition have qso rate from 40 to 80 q's pr hour.
Sometimes I Wonder...why in hell havent you trained Your cw-skil
before you go on dx-pedition...you spend a lot of Money, and can't
work the pile-up.......

3C0L Annobon Island

Where is Annobon Island ??
Two Latvian radio hams was activ from this radio country in October.
The Island belong to Equiateriotal Guinea, but it count as it own
country in the ham radio world, not so much activity from this part
of the world,I think many needed this one on morse code...cw...
From 13 to 25 October they made 32448 qsos, mostly on cw
A great effort of YL2GM-Yuris and YL3AIW-Kaspars.
Great cw from this 2 guys, my hat of for this operation.
I made qsos on 12-15-17-30 cw and 17 ssb.
All my gsos on my vertical GP7DX and 200 watt.
No low band qsos but happy with the q's I get.
One New band point 30 mtr  DXCC #311

Qsl card for 3C0L ,Found it on their homepage.

AURORA LEVEL IN SAC SSB TEST

This 'photo' I  found on LA Contest page.
It's tell all about the radio conditions this weekend.
Scandinavia was covered of aurora, eating almost
all of the radio reflections , Not a single North American
station was heard at my qth,  neither any JA'S.
My signal to the east only reached UA9 this weekend.

Comments:

Only qrv sunday, worked saturday,to tired for radio
when i returned back home,Radio conds was bad ,even
worse than 2016. Endless cq's...no one heard me....
Low power and a vertical on 20 mtr wasn't a success.
I'm laughing of this kids with stacked antennas and
big amps,when they complaints..oohh only 1000 qso's
They should try a wire ore a vertical and 100 watts.
Was looking on the dx-cluster it's a lot of friendly
Dx-spotting out there,it's no reason for a Scandinav
to spot another Scandinavian station in this test...
It's not allowed to work qso's inside Scandinavia.
So the contest committee should look at this....
My suggestion 1 friendly spot 1% less score...
10 freindly spot 10% less score....
I don't know what LA7AK was doing but he spotted
him self 12 times in this contest, Mybee a new assisted
category.....Thanks to all who called me, cu all neXt year.

I think this was a hard dx-pedition for the team, very cold and some
ice bears around the shelter.....

Comments:

2017 SAC cw contest is over.
As other says the conds was NOT the best.

1st stint:
1200z to 1318 I made 52 qsos,the first hour only 39 qsos.
I started on 20 mtr, the band was dead,So I switched of the radio.
2nd stint:
1522z to 1857z started up again and made 282 qsos on 40 mtr.(334q's total)
Ohhh it was fun again, QSY'ed to 80 mtr. NOOOOO more fun so quiet.
Extrem high swr.Shoe on .Where is that dam flashlight!!
My feed point for my shortned gp on 80 mtr is 2,5 mtr up
Found a camping chair ,tramped up on it and checked the pl's to the choke
balun everything was ok..but no change in swr, antenna was totally useless.
Ok last chance, check the water proof balun box,When i open the box the water
was flowing, it was full of water....dryed it up...swr was ok ..lost 33
minutes.
3rd stint:
1930z to 2141z found a frequenc on 80 mtr and made 111 q's on 80mtr.
Tryed some cq's on 40 but band was dead, Qrt day one. Total 445 qsos.
2ND.day.
0321z to 1146z
Can not sleep wake up early, tuning 40 and 80 mtr band...very quiet.
Dident work a single North American on 40 and 80 mtr.Cqing on 80 was giving
some more qsos but qsyed to 40 mtr made 170 more qsos there before I ended
Up on 20 mtr, Made 160 more qsos on 20 mtr but the band was very bad so it
was a struggle to make qso, Changed frequency a lot of times, was sqeezed away
of other Scandinavian stations, they couldn't hear me and was taken over
the frequency . But no problem everyone was on 20 mtr,no other band was open..
Last 30 min of the test everything stopped on 20 mtr for me,no more to work.
Qsyed to 15 mtr, to my suprice the band had som signal. Worked LY2NK and 4X0A.
Heard YO9HP and UR3GU also on 15 mtr ,but no qso. Qrt 1146z.
=================
SUMMARY..ok contest..
My beam is still locked to 90° East
My rotary dipole for 40 mtr is facing north-south
Hope that i can change the rotor before cq ww cw.
Have a multi band gp up 10 mtr,GP7DX it worked ok.
So can't complain to much.....
But.... i think i lost 200 qsos due to qrt time early in the contest.
My goal was 1000 qsos

GP7DX VERTICAL ANTENNA

Today I put the GP7DX antenna on a pull-up mast.
This mast I buy for 15 years ago 2nd handed.
This mast is 10 mtr high, my plan was to put it
on a trailer and put a 3 ele 3 bander on it and use it
in a so2r set up. This plan is still valid, but for the upcoming
Sac cw test this will be my main antenna. The goal is 1000 qsos.
Of course my Optibeam  is facing To 90 degrees east, not the worst
direction but I totally lost the beam path to North America.
Last year the Optibeam was locked to 0 degree north.
So a better solution this year since it is a big contest activity from East EU.
In 2016 I worked 204 DXCC on the GP7DX Antenna.
A very good result, because I run low power and only are qrv in weekends.
So if you have limited space buy this vertical.
I think I was the only station in Norway that worked
VP8SGI and VP8STI on low power and vertical.
Also worked VK0EK  on 30 + 40 mtr band with this antenna.
In 2016 I had this antenna only 4 mtr up, with the pull-up
mast I will raise it to 10 mtr in the weekends.
If you put it up 10 mtr it's best to use guying.
This antenna have a solid construction.

EARLY X-MAS FOR ME

This winter will be fun.
Finally I get the new antenna rotor in house.
The plan was to change it in last part of August.
I can only say that I hope It will be ready for cqww cw in November.
I'm a slugger on ground ,but can do nothing in the air. (Big Vimp)
So I need help from a local monkey.........(Morten are you ready)

AWARD CQ WW RTTY 2016

Award from cqww rtty in 2016.
In 2016 I was doing only 40 mtr in cq ww contest.(cw-ssb-rtty)
I have a decent signal on 40 mtr from my Optibeam dipole.
But the reason I choiced 40 mtr is that my rotor is caput..
This summer have also been a kind of hectic, much work.
Spend 3 weeks in Asia in July and when  I come back i order a
Pro Sis Tel rotor, haven't get it yet but I hope I will see it this week.
Then i have a chance to change it before next cqww rtty test.
Was taking part in SCC rtty test this weekend , it was fun
so I hope it will give me a kick  so I get my station up and running again.
Bye the way, my result in ww rtty was very good...👏👏👏

previous the say/write on the Web........time will show...........
Paid 390 us $ for this radio, ok price for the radio if it works.
Like the design of this radio, my goal was to buy another
Chinese qrp radio ,the Xiegu X5105 hf + 6 mtr.
But I haven't the time to wait for it...so I ended up with this..
Will probably buy the X5105 when it comes into production.
So this weekend I will test out this radio.   👍👍👍

Comments:

Only short time effort this year also...summer was come
to Norway, temp was 25°C...it's feel like crazy to sit in
front of the radio when you can BBQ outside and drink beer.
But managed to work some hours on 160 mtr and the claimed
score is new Norwegian record. So happy with that..😆😆😆
NeXt year I will do a full time effort on 20 ore 40 mtr band.
Since I probably lost the Norwegian low power record on 40 mtr.

In Norway we have some RBN police and since my rbn spot are investigated.
This year they realy will be shocked...get 2 rbn spot from Germany
They say snr 69 db and 82 db....oooh my good..the norm is between
20 to 30 db...in other word was I tx-ing 50 to 80 KW....
Jealousy and low iq realy get people to behave bad....
This people must be mental disturbed, living on social welfare
and have no money,Realy some band trash,

MOSCOW 870 YEARS, AWARD #3

Moscow 870 anniversary.
This is award #3 for me in this serie.
They will continue true 2017.
So more to come....

DX IN MAY

E31A was activ in the last part of May.
I made qsos on 15-17-40 ssb + 30 cw.
They made 36434 qso's in total.
A great number for only 4 ops.
They was giving me # 287 on 40 mtr band.
Already confirmed  on lotw, a big thank you.
This was the big one for me in May.
Had qso's on 15-17-40 ssb +17-20-30-40 cw + 40 rtty.
First time I heard them on 17 mtr cw I was thinking
what is this??? They was on 18,108 mc ,that's a rtty frequency.
They was doing cw ,the op could only copy 1 qso in 3 min..
So I didn't try this pile-up at all .
Later I get a qso on 30 mtr cw and after that I get a better
trust in them. They made 44438 qsos,so they where ok.
A25UK was giving me #286 on 40 mtr band, already confirmed on lotw.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Other dx in May.
TA0/DL7UCX on 30 mtr cw, Iota as-201
VU4YC on 17 -20 mtr cw
XW1IC on 17 mtr Rtty.
E44WE on 10 -17 ssb + 17 bpsk63
MJ/PB5X on 20 - 40 ssb and MJ/PA1AW on 160 rtty
The summer has came and so has the sporadic e layer.
About 250 qsos on 10 and 12 mtr in the last part of May.
It's  fun when 10 mtr shows way of life, great activity
the band have been dead for 8 months at my qth.
Let's hope 6 mtrs also get life....

DXCC CHANGES AGAIN..

Midway and Kure Islands Reinstated as DXCC Entities

05/11/2017
On March 31, 2017, the DXCC desk announced the deletion of Midway Island and Kure Island from the DXCC entities list. The stated reason for this action was because of changes in the administration resulting from changes inPapahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, formerly known as the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Marine National Monument, of which the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and the Battle of Midway National Memorial, the Hawaii State Seabird Sanctuary at Kure Atoll, and the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands State Marine Refuge, of which they are all included.
After further review it has been found that the deletion of these two entities is not supported by the changes that were made to the relevant administrations. Therefore, the deletions from the DXCC list should not have occurred and the two entities, Midway Island KH4 and Kure Island KH7K, will return to the DXCC List.
So that will say....back to 339 for top Honor Roll.
