CONTEST CHEATING

What do you think about contest cheating...
Is it ok to run high Power and claim low Power....
Is it ok to run low Power and claim qrp.........
Is it ok to go assisted bye cluster ore skimmer and claim not assisted....
Is it ok to run so2r and let a friend run the mult station and claim singel op..
Is it ok to put false Call in log to get some extra multipliers.....

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I THINK NOT...THEN YOU ARE A CHEATER............
Public logs can be some fun reading, look at this log from CQ WPX CW 2014.

FUN...FUN...NOT FUN...BIG FRUSTRATION...THEN BIG BIG FUN...
Sac cw contest it's the big event for a Scandinavian if you like pile-up.
For me this is like a early x-mas. This year i finally had a yagi to use.
Yes my tower is up and the antennas are also where they should be.
For first time I have competive antennas. But the contest started slow for me,
started on 20 mtr,the first 2 hour was only giving me 160 q's, in 2013 I had
200 after 2 hour. Last year I was using a g5rv. I started to think ,low
propagation, low Activity....after Reading comments on this reflector I
understand 15 mtr was hotter than 20 mtr.....so I think I should have qsyed to
15 mtr earlier. Then i was qsy to 40 mtr and i have a terribel qrn on the
band.
What happen !! The noise Level was very annoying ,so I have big problem to rx.
So I think sac cw 2014 was over for me. Noise on 80 mtr was even worser
s9+40db.
I was thinking, have someone in the neighbourhood buy a 100 inch plasma tv...
I started to check innside the house and luckly i found the qrn machine.
It was a computer screen that was making the noise, this one was quickly
switched off, and I have to say R.I.P. you will never enter my house again...
This happen in prime time eu, so I think I lost 100-150 q's on 40-80 mtr
I was only qrv 18 hour. Was sleeping to long also. But next year...
But after solve this problem the fun was comeing back...
I dont know what ct9/sm5alj was doing but he tx-ing cl9/sm5alj to me...
Conclusion after the weekend was good, all my new antennas performed well
and that's a good feeling, have only to adjust the 160 mtr slooper before the
cqww cw test, hopefuly I can do that soon and not the night before the test...
A big thank you to all who was calling me....year after year...
Cu all next year  . Lars

OB 11-5 #4

Finally everything has a end.
I started with this tower project in August last year.
One year later everything it's on track.
The antennas are from Optibeam in Germany.
A optibeam OB 11-5 covers 10-12-15-17-20 mtr.
A Optibeam OB1 4030 covers 30-40 mtr.
I have also a W8AMZ slooper for 160 mtr.
Have mounted a pulley for raising a 60 mtr delta loop also.
The coax cable I use is ecoflex 10.
The antenna rotor is from Pro.Sis.Tel.
The tower i get for free, It have been a lot off work.
Everything has been done by my self.
This project have cost me about 65000 Nok.
That's around 8000 Euro , 10500 us $

OB 11-5 #2

Finally ready with asembling the antenna.
This is about 8-10 hours with work.

This is a big antenna........

OB 11-5

This is my optibeam 11-5.
I was buying this antenna back in juni 2008.
Finally I have time and a Tower to put it up in.
Look at the photo, this is a quality antenna.
Every element is taped together in one piece.
Every element is pre-drilled it's very easy to put
together. It's an expensive antenna ,but worth every euro.
From left to right: 5 ele 10 mtr and 3 ele 12-15-17-20 mtr.
No traps . I think I will have this antenna for many years.
Optibeam is a antenna Company from Germany.

Comments:

Late start for me in this contest, due to thunder storm I started 1618z.
Try to work the iota's but the qso rate was very low, due to my low signal.
I was the last one in the pile to get a serial nr. and the iota Reference.
I think the iota stations should only send their iota nr. It would have
speeded up the rate a little. Conds could have been better.
Was giving up the iota hunting and was calling cq on sunday. Sunday 10 mtr
become open, and I was getting a good run on 10 mtr cw and logged 190 stations
in 2 hour, great on a g5rv. Some nice iota's worked was AS-136 AS-150 AS-158
This was my best score in the iota contest ever. Low mults but qso's ok.

My goal for this contest was the national record in the low power class.
But the band conditions was not good at all, sunday was better than saturday.
Limited time also ,qrv 23 hour's, due to thunder both nights.
Usually i work about 350 NA ,this year only 83. Only singel elements antennas
so the result is ok for this set up. But this summer i will put up ob 11-5.
Some stations send theirs Serial numbers very fast, to fast. They send you
Your
number in 40-45 wpm and when you have flutter, echos, aurora its almost
impossible
to recive. And when you send Your Serial number back in 30 wpm they ask agn nr
agn nr.   Life can be hard isent it........

The propagation was not the best this weekend.
The A value was up to 28, and that is not so good
for us living to far north. Once again great activity
from russians radio ham. They are great cw-ops.
Surprise to work zm4g on 20 mtr, one call and then in log.

Comments:

The claimed score is a new low power record for Norway.
Cross my fingers and hope it will survive the log check.
The conditions this weekend was very good.
A lot of stations was qrv and the band was very crowded.
Some op's should realy check theirs radio equipment.
Some station was very wide and making splatters up to
5-6 khz one each side. Nice to work some real dx contact's also.
Should have worked more qso's on 10-mtr ,but my g5rv dont
give me the strongest signal on ten mtr. Realy a nice radio weekend.

NRRL 2014

This is the big event for Norwegian radio hams.
A place to shop some radio junk and meet some old friends.
Also Norwegians biggest radio shop Permo electronics are there.
Gardermogruppen av NRRL is the host for this meeting.
They have been host for this event for many years.
They started up with great ham spirit, but when the years
have gone it look's more and more like pure business.
This year it is 250 Nkr ,sometimes I think it is one year
membership in Gardermogruppen included.
I will not go this year...I think some others should take over.
and I know alot off other's also who also qrx this year.
