WW RTTY AWARD 2015

CQ WW RTTY AWARD 2015
A great contest for me,great score with so1r from 60 ° North
After I put up Optibeam antennas, work dx is so easy.
With low power I can rock the world....
Some mental disturbed Norwegian radio ham's  (cb-lids)
Think I'm running high power and cheating in contest.
But no amplifier on this side since 10.Oct.2010

My goal was 1000 qsos, ended up with 403...
Turned on the radio att 0300z. So quiet..no North Americans???
Worked only one NA on 40 mtr this year W1KM was the only one who
heard me this weekend ,no 'VE' Canadians att all...
K3LR worked 1 LA Station...KC1XX worked 3 LA stations.(on 40 mtr)
This says it all about the conds from Norway to NA.
Conds was poor I think similar to the ssb part.
Everything North of my qth 60°N was hard (impossible) to work.
Frustrating to see spot from Denmark (500 km south of me)
and when you go to the freq.you hear nothing...
********
NR4M say...
Conds were terrible the first night
and generally bad the rest of the weekend.

This statement is spot on..but as always CQ WW is fun..

CHEAP CABLE.

I buy this cable in Thailand  6 roll's of 1,5 mm el-cable à 100 mtr.
Very cheap/good price in Thailand compared to Norway.
Will use it for my new low-band antenna 80/160 mtr that I will put up
next year, In Norway the price of this cable is about 400 Nkr for one roll
In Thailand they wanted 100 Nkr for one roll, so easy saved 1800 Nkr.(225 $)

Comments:

My goal for cqww rtty was to make 600 qsos on 40 mtr.
This is new Norwegian record for 40 mtr low power catagory.
This time assisted with dx-cluster . I missed only 2 mults.
I was not able to break the pile-up of a EA6  and a SV9 station.
Hardest to work was LZ9W he was VERY deaf. C37NL was not easy either.
Some station running afsk with very high audio setting and makeing very
wide/splattering signal. They should be disqualified in my eyes.
Some station also doing a lot of selfspotting, some of the worst must be
Z35T and Z36N they have 50 spots from Z32ID in cq ww rtty contest this
weekend, hope they get disqualified....ore maybe someone should explain the
contest rules for them....in their one language....

My goal was 1000 qsos.So a big thank you to the callers.
My Optibeam is locked to 5 degree north.Rotor is broken.
OH2BBT have an interesting page of RBN spot during the sac-test.
My rbn spot is very low,so I must be happy with my score.
My ERP is not good comparing to other LA's.
The reason is that I could not turn the antenna.
But hope to see some of you in the ssb part and of course in
CQ WW Rtty  next weekend.
Top 5 dxcc worked:
UA3: 181 QSOS
DL:   108 QSOS
UR:     88 QSOS
W:      67 QSOS
OK:    55 QSOS
-----------------------
Every year I hope for much activity from Norway.
But it looks like only some few of us realy can make a cw qso.
That's sad because if you are into morse code ,this is the very
best way to show it, big pile-ups and big fun.
In this days most of the dx-ers need a spot on the dx cluster
A big amplifier and a log check the day after to see if they made
the qso......no skills...just Internet ....hihi

NRRL'S OFFICE...A NIGHTMARE..

In July I was sending this package with qsl card to the Nrrl office.
I was very surprised when it comes back in August.
They had not picked it up at the locale post office in Oslo.
Till my big surprise they had closed the office for whole July.
No back up for the post, in my eyes they are not doing their job.
So I have to send it back again, will cost me 60 us dollar.
I have no good feeling for the work they do their,  well if they realy
do something in there....took me 18 months to get LA7TTT callsign registered.
They have probably sent back 100's of qsl card market ..NOT MEMBER..
If it wasn't for the qsl service I would never been a member of Nrrl.
This lazy guy's inside there is only making me crazy.......
They are well overpaid......that's sure....

I don't know if they had some work issue during the dx- pedition.
I think many still need this one  ,I still need a rtty qso...
Next time..next time....thanks guys,nice show.

KENWOOD TS-940S

Kenwood TS-940S..produced in July 1988.
I get a very good offer to buy this radio.

R16REF 2 qso and R16KAZ 3 qso's.

Innside the antenna tuning unit.

This is my summer project, will raise a 20 mtr vertical with top loading.
I live on a very noisy qth ,but after I worked V5/DL3DXX- VK0EK on 160
this winter I started to think about something better than my W8AMZ sloper.
This set is from RA6LBS, will be followed up during the next winter season..

A German team was activ from Sri Lanka 15 days in Mars
They made about 25000 qso's under lousy radio conditions...
Photo from their home page.
Made qso on 20 30 40 RTTY, 30 40 CW and 40 SSB.
Never heard them on 10 and 12 mtr , heard them on 15 17 mtr
but signal to low for qso, hope to hear this German team again
NeXT year from a hotter spot......

FT4JA

FT4JA Juan De Nova Isl. photo from their homepage.
This 10 guy's made a tremendous dx-pedition .
European dx'ers are the best in the whole world, this team was
the best I ever heard in my ham radio life, better than the Italian
dx pedition team also. 105570 qso's in 11 days ,thats a great number.
Specialy when you know that they made 10000 rtty qso's in this
time frame also. Have seen it for many years, when it comes to radio
European are at least 25 % better than USA op's when it comes to handle
out qso's. Look att the qso rates on differents dx-pedition and you
clearly see what I mean....My hats of for this guy's.
My main goal for this dx-pedition was to get them on rtty and I
did that also for my Club callsign. Beam's are still pointing to 350 * North
So all my qso's on the GP7DX vertical and low Power. ( no amp here)
No low band qso's for me on this one, to tired after the Asia trip.
Needed some sleep this weekend....

Have been in Thailand during easter time.
This time i buy this house, for me it's ok.

Hopefully I will spend my older days in this house.
The house is 100 square meter, + garden area about 200 square meter
The little guy in front of the neighbours house

KINGMAN REEF KH5 (deleted)

Kingman reef worked back in 2000 on 15.17.20.30 mtr cw and ssb.

Kingman Reef isent the bigest place on earth.
This is part of the bulletin from arrl's dxcc desk..

03/28/2016
The ARRL Awards Committee has voted to delete Kingman Reef (KH5) from the DXCC List, effective March 29, 2016. Kingman Reef will be added to the Deleted Entities List on March 29, 2016. The total number of entities on the List will drop from 340 to 339. The deletion process is described in DXCC Rules Section II DXCC List Criteria, Part 5(a)

So this will say HR#1 is 339 dxcc entity

VK0EK Heard Isl.

Penquin on Heard Island. Photo from homepage VK0EK.
I have been in Thailand for 14 days , comeback to Norway 8 April.
Had to go in the easter time, not a good solution when you are MORE
than hyper activ when it comes to ham radio................
But this trip was planed for long time and my big hope was to
get some qso's with this dx-pedition during their last 3 days.
I come home checked their log search and get a very bad feeling for
this operation, they had been qrv 15 days and only have 63000 qso's.
Woow that wasent much...that's what eu's need alone.....
So I think what was they doing down there...playing Cards....
They had good antennas,a hot location and many op's.......
Realy was this op's so bad....
Was lisen for them all Friday..not a bip on 10 to 20 mtr..
Suddenly they was spotted on 40 mtr cw on 7,016 mc in evening...
Ok have no hope but heard him well, ok I give a Call 2 khz down
2 times 3 times 4 times....o'shit he was coming back to me
LA5LJA 599 I quickly responded 599 TU...
Worked him with 100w and the vertical GP7DX....
This evening was mine.. 1 hour later get him on 80 mtr cw
On 80 mtr I have a broken gp .10 mtr high inverted U.. hihi
Then later on 30 mtr cw and finaly the big ONE on 160m (W8AMZ sloper)
4 qso's in a very short time...3 New bands...low Power..
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So I think this guy's have not been happy with the sun.

3C7A

3C7A Equatorial Guinea Op was LA7GIA Ken from Norway.
Photo borrowed from his qrz page
This Dxcc entity must been  high ranked at the most wanted list.
His pile ups was hugh and so was the wide of it ,up to 40 khz the
first days, had some fun hunting for him ,was zero beat many times.
But this one was realy hard to break.
But in the end I get some qso's,was not easy but Ken is a fb op,
He made 13000 qso's in 8,5 days..thats a very good result.
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
But my god ,so much crying on the dx cluster...like..
please listen me,please 20 mtr, please ssb, please only dit and dat..
I realy dont understand this beggers...please try salvation army...
You are not much of a dx'er when you start to begg...just a poor
poor cb-guy....be a man..make better station and learn to break a pile-up.
It's not hard....it's just to listen more than tx-ing....
I hope the Italien dx-team will be activ from 3C in the future...
Many still need this one...I need a rtty qso...

WRAP UP..7P8C

7P8C radio dx-pedition to Lesotho bye F6KOP Club members.
They made 50180 qso's during their stay in February. 17297 unique calls.
Very happy to made some rtty qso's, New one on rtty so thank you team.
I think this was a little bit Hill Billies dx pedition....
They did some strange choice....
On 17 mtr ssb they was listen on 18,170 mc thats out of BAND..
On 17 mtr cw one night the op was saying ..I listen up...but he was running
around inside the pile and makeing simplex qso's up and down 10 khz.
On 160 mtr ,their choice was to stay on ssb, With very low qso rate.
They was calling only for French station also and one op was calling
for UK and EI only..that path isent exactly hard to work from Southern Africa..
It had been better if they was calling for VK/Zl only......
But it's their dx-pedition/Choice...Have order the qsl card via OQRS
I made 7 q's and happy for that ,happy for 30 40 rtty qso's

Qsl card from this radio dx-pedition.
Photo borrowed from their homepage.
This Italian dx-team are one of the best we have on the air.
They handling out qso's very fast and their online log-check utility
is the best. I made 12 qso's with them, very hard to get in log for me.
Their signal was never over s7 on my qth, most qso's was made near
the noise flor, struggled hard to get them on rtty on 15 mtr ,trying every day.
Day 8 I made it on 15 mtr rtty, very happy New one on that mode......
They was annonced that rtty mode should only be on 15 mtr.
The last day they where on , I was tuning over the 30 mtr band and
till my big suprise they was calling cq on 30 mtr rtty.. 1st Call and then in log.
Wooow I have spend many hours calling for that 15 mtr rtty qso and then
only 1 Call on 30 mtr..so thanks for 2 rtty qso's
They made 91242 qso's , 26935 uniques callsign. Only 8 op's
Since my beam are stucked to the North my qso's was made on GP7DX vertical.

Comments:

Must have been great radio conditions.
My beam antennas are locked to the North. 22 degrees North.
So 900 qsos was made on a vertical GP7DX and a inv-l for 80 mtr.
It's a little bit crazy to make so many qso's on so simple Equipment...
But great fun,my best score ever in wpx rtty...
