160 Mtr

I was buying this antenna from W8AMZ and was putting
it on my tower 25 December, the antenna was easy to tune
in , only folding the wire back again till you have good swr.
The swr is good, i have about 90khz within 2:1
The antenna is mounted about 15 mtr up (48 feet's)
Was using this antenna in the Stew Perry test this weekend.
Was making 163 q's only one qso outside eu.
But i'm satified because the primary use for this
antenna is to get some mulitipliers in contest.
The builder of this antenna W8AMZ past away
before Christmas , so R.I.P. Tom
So thank you Tom for a small antenna that works.

A good and promising start for my future activity on 30/40.
Not so much time for testing but worked  JM1XCW and
JF1OPL on 40 mtr rtty not bad since i was running 50watt.

VU7-Lakshadweep Islands

This is the qsl from a dxpedition back in 2007.
From 20 of November til 10. December a team
of Indian hams make this dxcc entity once again on the air.
They created some big pileups and i was lucky to work them
on 10 and 12 mtr for new band countrys, also one qso on rtty.
Also make some other qso's,but since I have vu7 confirmed from
15 to 160 mtr  ,I was more than happy. They did there best and
ended up with 55k qso's. So VU7AG thanks for a great show.

MFJ-1792

Photo from Mfj's homepage.
MFJ-1792 , This antenna i have had for many years.
It have been a great performer for me. Giveing me a lot of dx
on 40 and 80 mtr. Have used it againts ground radials, ground mounted.
Have been giving me 250dxcc on 80 mtr, not bad for a 33 feet's vertical.
My ground radials system was 90 radials of 10 mtr and 100 square mtr's
with chicken fence. This antenna needs guying at least one set.
This summer i was removing all my ground radials and chicken fence..
My antenna is now mounted on a 2 mtr high pole and i use 2 elevated
radials for 40 and 2 for 80 mtr. And it still give me a lot of dx in log.
So if you have the Space and looking for a 'cheap' antenna that
produce regular dx contacts, please concern this...
I highly recomend this antenna. it have give me a lot of fun.
For advice about ground radials.... check the home page of steppir.
They have a ok articel about radials...
Look for *radial system for vertical antennas*

Coax clamp

For many years I have used cable ties ala plastic type.
With bad/poor results, after some years the sun and cold
temperature during winter, have breaked down the cabel ties.
And the coax starts to live it's one life and often break down
from the feading point. So this is my solution.
Since i work in the car industry a coating of tectyl is obligatory.
Have been working on my tower project this sunday.
So the tower goes up before christmas.A big xmas present to me..
In the background you can se my takeoff to the west.
No hills for 50 km.............

Pacific's dx-expeditions

Some thoughts after the recent K9W and T33A expeditions.
Since I started with ham-radio back in 1994,it always have been
hard to work stations in the Pacific area. Some expeditions hate to
work eu's, and I can understand that.probably because most of the eu's
have a terribel way to work a pile-up..They can not listen to what the
op's say, and shouting and shouting , the result.. the qso rate go down.
In cw -mode we have constant callers, they dont understand if  the op's ask
for a 9a station ore a i5 station ,they can not hear the difference
and it's a huge difference in this calls on cw........
I can not understand why some op's work cw if the only way
they can handle cw on it's via a dx-spot on the dx-cluster.....
Then we have all the tuners and the policemen.......
So maybe this it's the reason of some dx-expedition
give a shit in listen for eu's...They are not interested in eu's att all.
Had hoped for some q's with K9W and T33A but I must admit
I hardly heard them. I know since I have wire antennas and 100 w
I can only get a qso ore mybee 2, but this ended with nil.
Well I have in mind that I work in daytime, but I was hopeing
for some eu-openings during the weekend, but no......
So for me T32C it's the best expedition from the Pacific area.
They had ears for all ,giving me 6 band 3 modes with my g5rv and 100w.
That was an expeditions for the books....
Conclusion : must have more alu in the air...hihi

CQ WW CW 2013

This is my big  antennas......
Not much to brag about, but it gives me some good dx qso's.
This weekend was the big one for the cw guy's.
I had big plans for this weekend . The plan was to get the new tower up.
But no , shit happens ........i was missing 2 tubes for one of my optibeam's.
So I have to stay with the antennas you see on the photo.
A big drawback.....my plan was to go for new record in
solpna . This record  is old it's from 2000.
But everthing got wrong for me,a lot of work the whole week and when
friday come  i was ready for the test I thought.....
To make it short, big swr for my 40/80 antenne and my 160 antenne
was totaly out of business...was working till 1700z and then
5 hours with antenna work .Result was total worn out before the test.
So about 0400z into saturday morning I was sleeping in the chair.
Get some hours sleep and then i was ready again.
But changed into assisted class and was just playing around.
The conditions was rather good. Ended up with 1413 qso's
and 507 multipliers . The hardest multiplier to get is Norway but this year
I get Norway on all 6 band. last qso was LA1U on 160 mtr.
So thank you Jørn for decoding my low signal....
My 160 ant was only a 10 mtr alu tube...

Amplifier Work

What is this.......
It's two 7,5 kV 500pF door knob capacitors.
Sitting inside my amplifier.
In front of a 3cx1500 tube from Eimac.
I realy hope this will bring my Ameritron amplifier back to life.
This amplifier has been a very good work horse for me.
The old capacitors was going with a big bang att 0500 o'clock
in the morning, wakeing up the whole house....
And i get a good Picture about what my wife was
thinking about my radio hobby.......
A big thanks to LA8LGA Jens who was giving me the parts...

CQ WW SSB 2013

This weekend was the big 'one' for the ssb op's.
CQ ww contests always have big Activity.
This year's ssb contest had very good propagation.
A lot of sunspots and low k and a factor was giving
the small guns also a possability to have some good dx in the log.
The photo is showing the activty on 20 mtr on sunday evening.
For first time using my ft5000 in contest.
This is a hell of a radio .....you can hear everything on it.
Was making 1060 qsos on my g5rv.

Sac cw Contest

Ok..... sac cw contest 2013 is history....
This is my contest result. A great weekend with cw. This is the big happening for a
Scandinavien if you like cw and pile-up's. It's pity that we have so low activity from Norway.
We have many hams in Norway, who do cw, but they can only handle cw if they get a good
spot on the dx-cluster.Well they are doing ccw (cluster c w ) ........hi hi...
Hopefully some more will take part next year.  This year i was doing the test with a g5rv and gp for 80 mtr, with 2 elevated radials. 100 watt. 1280 qso's and 20 hours in the chair.
Not bad, thanks for qso's cu next year...
